We aspire for our graduates to provide quality care to the communities within the Appalachian region and beyond, whether they choose ambulatory-based primary care, academics, hospital medicine, or pursue subsequent specialty fellowship training. To achieve our mission we focus on training our residents in quality-driven, team-based care empathetic and responsive to the holistic needs of the patients we treat.
In affiliation with Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk School of Osteopathic Medicine, we pledge to provide opportunities for robust training across the full spectrum of internal medicine and intend to instill in our graduates a quest for lifelong learning and improvement. These core values, along with our commitment to operating a high quality, resident-focused program, is congruent with the mission of our sponsoring institution, Health Education Services (HES).
We are excited to welcome our first class HES/Tennova Health – Knoxville Internal Medicine Residency Program, and looking forward to our next. The residents, campus and engaged faculty are all excited for this first experience. There is no greater honor than to become a caring, competent physician meeting the needs of a deserving patient. It will be our goal to provide you as a resident the tools to fulfill the patient’s needs and expectations while allowing you to achieve your individual goals in a program dedicated to medical knowledge and growth.
From the successful recruitment of our new class, we understand the importance of a state of the art facility, with up to date technology. To accompany our residents in their medical journey. Being a new program, but not new to medical education as we have been educating medical students, there will be an excellent opportunity to have one-on-one with our highly-qualified medical staff enthusiastic about education.
Geographically, the Knoxville area is outstanding for culture, diversity and external educational opportunities. It is a site for a major university with excellent sports. The proximity to the national parks and lakes makes outdoor activities a highlight for the area.
Our ACGME-accredited HES/Tennova Health (Knoxville) residency program has state-of-the art learning modules and skills labs. Each clinical rotation includes guidance in achieving the ACGME core competencies, sub-competencies and self-directed career goals. Our faculty are excited to support the education, skills and career development for each resident.
Competency has replaced testing, and precision learning is critical in developing future internal medicine specialists. Our program will provide the elements through skill development, enhanced critical decision learning tools as well as a faculty committed to lifetime learning to ensure success in our residents.
We look forward to your application to our unique residency program and the opportunity to train you as a member of the next generation of physician leaders in Internal Medicine.
